Wedding Planners And Its Common Concerns

January 16, 2010

When a couple begins the wedding preparations that are associated with marriage a topic that does not often bring up pleasant feelings is found with the budget.   The reason there exists a kibosh on the idea of budget is since it often places limitations on what a bride and groom hope to accomplish or incorporate in their wedding day.   Although with the financial effects currently afflicting the market a wedding budget is more important than ever.   The idea of using wedding planners is a high expense that many wedding parties can manage without.   The idea that wedding planners are a necessary part of a wedding is an idea that wedding planners developed through marketing and stories of wedding horror.   This misperception has tricked many wedding parties into believing that wedding planners are necessary for a wedding, leading to many times an additional fifteen percent cost over the total party expenses.   Wedding planners are over glorified receptionists who typically only set appointments and make phone calls while you still do all the planning.

Having a wedding that has to work within the limitations of a budget is another problem with wedding planners since they do not like to be limited.   It is important to know that wedding planners often set their fee off of the percentage of the total of the wedding event.   So the expense of the wedding planner of ten to fifteen percent should already be deducted prior to making any plans for the wedding.   In addition, wedding planners are known to talk couples into regularly exceeding their budget under the claim that this event will only occur once in their lifetime.   The truth is that while this is a once in a life event you have set a budget for a reason and it would not be good to start your life as a married couple in debt as a result of your wedding.   Another con that wedding planners have in regards to a couples budget relates to their preexisting relationships.   This is done by wedding planners because they have established relationships with these vendors and to use someone else would be an inconvenience to their planning.   The problem is that many times a couple cannot afford these extravagant vendors or those vendors do not offer what you are looking for so why are you paying someone who is going to try and talk you into something you do not want.

For the budgeted couple the wedding planners is an expense that they do not need to incur. The smart wedding couple would make the intelligent move and rely on friends and family for support. A wedding day is special and on many occasions friend and family members would love to find a way to participate in the event. Use these individuals as free wedding planners and maximize the resources you have before seeking outside assistance. If you can assign a specific task to your free wedding planner then you will have an individual who is focused on one task. This focus helps your free wedding planner not be overwhelmed with their assistance and helps you get a wedding task out of your hands and into the hands of a reliable individual with your best intentions in mind.

Wedding planning should be done with fun and excitement. A wedding should always be a most memorable moment of life, so it should be done with care and excitement. A well planned wedding will give you an appreciation from others. However, if you don’t do the proper research and stay within your budget things can go bad in a hurry. You need to make a well organized list of things to do.   You need to keep the things well organized and simple. Here are some basic tips to organize a well planned wedding.

  1. The first that needs to be decided that how big and complex you want your wedding to be. You want a small wedding with some simple arrangements or would you rather have a big wedding? You need to make sure both you and your partner are on the same page and agree on things. Prepare to make some compromises.
  2. Decide a good and the most attractive theme for your wedding. This will include that how people will dress, kind of music, food, venue, and decorations.
  3. What is your budget for this wedding? How much can you really afford. There is no reason to go all out on a wedding if you can’t afford it. This could lead to some really big problems with your families and you as a couple. Instead you can arrange a good and simple wedding within your budget by arranging all things in a well planned manner.
  4. Decide that you will make all the wedding arrangements by your self or you want to hire a wedding planner? Wedding planners are certainly great and do a good job. Be sure if you do hire one that they don’t get you spending a lot more money then you originally planned.
  5. Make all the plans in time. Don’t wait to long to get your plans in order. This is something that you must start taking care of. Decide about venue and do a booking for the hall on time, getting invitations ready, decide about foods and recipes and find your and your partner dress. Dress of bride and groom should be compatible to each other.

Save Yourself From Going Over Your Wedding Budget

August 26, 2009

Couples spend an average of almost $25,000 for their once in a lifetime wedding. This is usually over the budget they plan on spending. And by wedding, I consider just the cost of the wedding day itself. The honeymoon and wedding rings are separate expenses altogether. I’m sure you can imagine why most newlywed couples go into debt for the first couple of years after marriage. Debt problems can sure toss out the idea of your honeymoon phase lasting for too long. A wedding planner can keep you on track and find you the affordable rates you need to plan the wedding you always wanted. A wedding planner can be so resourceful, that it’s possible to spend less than you imagined it would cost.

Because of the long standing relations a Wedding Planner has with a variety of contacts, it’s easier for them to get a discount than others. This would be for the flowers, the wedding venue, the catering, the wedding decorations, lighting and sound equipment, etc. So you’ve got that Vera Wang wedding dress you’ve been thinking about since you were a girl? Why not save some cash in other aspects of your wedding. Being on a budget doesn’t always have to mean that you compromise on class. You can still have a classy, beautiful, impressive wedding on a budget.

Don’t feel guilty as the big day gets closer, to include that friend of a friend, or that colleague you kind of talk to. Adding to your guest list will mean rearranging your seating chart, adding another table and which means your catering order also goes up.

Most newly engaged couples are sending their invitations by email these days, which saves a lot of cash. Even if you feel a printed wedding invitation is necessary, you may want to think about printing them only for immediate family and friends and sending the rest by email. Also see if you can hand deliver them to family and friends nearby. If you tell your guests to RSVP by email, it will make it easier to organize which guests are coming for your wedding.

Evenings during the week or Sundays are the most unlikely days for holding a wedding. If you choose one of these days you will get a better rate than others interested in booking that venue. When you talk to your wedding planner see if you can have a per plate entrée sequence for your guests rather than an open buffet. Open buffets are more expensive than a per head catering expense. Check out your options and then consider what easily gels with your budget. Instead of an open bar, arrange with your wedding planner to have wine and beer served to your guests for limited hours during the evening.

Evaluate how many bridesmaids you have and reflect if the number of dresses is tipping your budget overboard. 2 or 3 bridesmaid will look just as nice as 5. After all, it is your big day and you shouldn’t be worrying about the expense of your bridesmaid dresses. Save yourself and your husband from dealing with uncomfortable cutbacks in your daily life for the next couple of years after marriage. Hire a wedding planner in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoy a beautiful wedding at an affordable budget.

Every wedding has a budget. And some necessary steps should be kept in mind while planning any wedding. All your preparations and arrangements should be covered in decided budget. While planning any wedding you should thing as a professional wedding planner.

You my start planning your wedding with the below given steps:-

Think about that what is most important for you, such as the venue, decoration, catering or a designer wedding gown, the flowers, a great photographer. Those categories are going to be where you’ll devote a greater part of your available budget, since they are vital parts of your dream wedding.

  2. Make a list of what is not very important. Keep them in the list of less necessary things. If at last you save some money you can add  to these less important things.

  3. Check out the cost of each and every thing. No need to rely on others. Try all the costs by yourself and from different places and then final the best based on quality and reasonable cost.

  4. Divide all the items on your budget list according to who is taking on which portions of the plans, and then find ways to get the best product or service for less. You can share the information with family and friends.

  5. Venue decision is the main part of wedding planning. Venue should be easy to find, comfortable to enter with a wide entrance and a nice decoration as per your budget. A good parking space is necessary. Sitting arrangements should based on number of guests.

Should You Give Wedding Favors?

August 26, 2009

Wedding favors are small gifts that are given to wedding guests by the bride and groom as a token of thanks for joining them on their special day.  The tradition of giving favors goes back to the 13th century when the bride would give small boxes of sugar cubes to the female guests at her wedding.

Today wedding favors have become far more sophisticated and with that comes additional expense and strain on the wedding budget.  Many couples do consider whether or not they should give them and if by not giving them would their guests mind.

Wedding etiquette would say that it is unforgivable not to give favors and by not doing so you are appearing to be too stingy to thank your guests in the traditional way.  I am not sure that many wedding guests would be too bothered if they received them or not, although there will always be those ‘traditionalist’ guests who will expect them.

Some couples may also consider that the sending of thank you notes does exactly the same job.  Actually they don’t. Thank you notes are generally sent only to those guests who have given you a wedding gift and although probably all your guests will have given something, thank you notes only really say ‘thanks for the pressie!’

Wedding favors can be expensive.  There is the cost of the favor itself, the packaging, decorations and the cost of shipping and taxes to be added in.  Even if you are buying in bulk quantities the total cost can still amount to a few hundred dollars.  It is possible to give favors for less than $1 each but this can require some creativity on your part and if you are not that way inclined or simply don’t have the time, you will have to spend at least twice this amount.

Basically, if you don’t give wedding favors then you could appear to be too tight to spend a little extra on something to thank your guests.  Favors do not need to be extravagant gestures, a few candy coated chocolate hearts in a voile bag is better than nothing at all and wedding guests usually appreciate something edible as a favor over yet another miniature photograph frame or bag of flower seeds!

Another reason why you should give favors at your wedding is that if you don’t then you the onus will be on the two of you to go to each guest and to personally thank them for coming.  If your wedding has a couple of hundred guests then thanking them all individually could see you missing most of the reception!

Wedding Planning and Organization on a Budget

August 25, 2009

Wedding planning and organization is so important.  If you find that you are an unorganized person you will need the help of someone with some experience.  A personal wedding planner is someone who helps you create lists such as your to do list, your budget and then begins helping you select your cake, invitations, church and so on and so forth.  If you do not have the money available for a personal wedding planner then you can use an online wedding planner.

An online wedding planner can help you create your budget.  This is the most important element to create before you begin shopping and spending.  A budget will give you an idea of all the costs involved in a wedding.  If you realize that you went over the budget in one area you will then need to take some funds from another area of the wedding planning.

A budget will help keep a lot of stress out of the planning.  If you stick with the budget you will find that you are able to get more for your money.  You will be surprised at the discounts various facilities will give you when you share the amount that you have budgeted for that service or product.  The flower shop may take an extra thirty percent off of the flowers that you really want.  Be sure to get a few prices to compare and choose the price that fits best in your budget.

The wedding planner will assist you in creating an online gift registry.  It will help you in creating your guest list as well.  Your guest list should be created within your budget.  If you find that you do not have the budget needed to invite all your family and friends then you may need to consider other creative ways to share your day with everyone.

You could also opt to have an additional small reception right at the church with cookies and finger foods for everyone and then have a small intimate reception for the very close friends and relatives.  You can also create a wedding website where you can share you love and excitement with everyone without having to invite them all to the reception.

Planning an organized wedding on a budget is easy with the help that is available from online experts.  There are many wedding planning tools available online that can assist you in planning the perfect wedding day.

Budget Friendly Weddings

August 20, 2009

Your wedding day is one of the most memorable occasions in your life and it is only natural to want the day to be special for everyone. There are several different elements to the typical wedding, from flowers to invitations, photographs and food, making it easy for costs to add up.

If you want to celebrate your wedding day without spending a fortune then investigate some money saving tips that can help to keep costs under control but still allow you to throw a party that everyone will enjoy.

First and foremost, you need to send invites to all your guests. Making your own wedding invitations is an easy way to use your creative flair and is extremely cost effective as well, meaning you are cutting costs right from the beginning.

If you’re a dab hand with publishing packages or Photoshop you could create your own custom design or even use photographs of you and your partner. If computers aren’t your favourite thing then you could opt to embellish your cards with ribbon, bows, beads, or dried flowers. Whatever method you choose, all you need to do is buy a set of plain cards and let your imagination run wild!

When it comes to the day itself you want to choose a venue that fits in with the overall style of your celebrations. The reception is one of the highest costs within your wedding budget so it pays to shop around before making your booking.

Hotels are popular venues for both the ceremony and the reception. This can help to save money as you are only booking one venue as opposed to two and you also cut down on travel as everything takes place under the same roof.

If you or one of your friends or family members has a home large enough to accommodate your guests then you could save a significant amount of money by having a ‘home’ wedding.

You can rent trellises, archways, gazebos and other features which help to set the scene. Simply decorate with flowers to create a pretty location for photographs and celebrations.

If you want to have your wedding in a church then make sure you get a clear breakdown of church fees, flowers and organist costs.

When it comes to food you might want to use caterers. If so, make sure you shop around to find the most competitive deal and get the most for your money. It is also important to get as accurate an estimate as possible of how many people will be attending so you do not have too much or too little food.

Last but not least, many people planning weddings on a budget take care of their own catering arrangements. If you vouch for this option get some helpful friends and family to give you a hand on the day.

Home baked wedding cakes are gaining popularity and a spot of culinary creativity could save you money without sacrificing quality.
