Make Your Wedding Invitations Right With These Easy Tips

January 21, 2010

Whenever someone is getting married, having an entire list of the guests is one of the most critical things  This includes the preparation for the wedding invitations. It should have and should show your earnest desire to invite those you want to see on your big wedding day.

The wedding invitation’s concept is on the idea that they really part of the wedding.

Here are some great tips and ideas for creating your invitation for your wedding.

1. Some soon to be couple does not know this very important fact but the main reason for making and circulating out your wedding invitations is to at least have an estimate on the list of guests you are going to invite. With this, it is smart for you to place a reply note along with the invitation. This can be in a form of a card or you can provide a name and number where they can easily notify their attendance.

2. If you plan to have a small wedding function, it is best to have the invitations personalized. This can also prevent the so called uninvited guests from coming. One more thing, purchasing few quantities of invitations are more expensive and require the minimum amount of orders. You can select a supplier that receives small orders. But if you really would not be ordering a lot, then, I suggest you make your own wedding invitation.

3. Specify on the wedding invitation what type of affair you will use. If possible, the invitation should directly reflect this. There are a lot of invitation designs and concepts out there for the theme you have. Oftentimes, weddings are formal events. However, there are occasions wherein the couples choose informal celebration.

4. The color in your wedding invitation should be chosen good. Yes this is common sense, but many does not follow this. The simple mixing of favorite colors are being done by soon to be couples. Weddings are usually colored white and will never go out of style. The important point is not to use one color but a good mixing of bright colors you can use. Bright colors can really ad up to the happy mood to anyone who sees it.

5. Be careful in the use of words for your invitation. Mindful use of words and putting them out correctly is very crucial in wedding invitations. These are the first-hand symbol of the great celebration that is about to take place. Any misapplied, abused, or unethical choice of words

6. A design that reflect your taste must be chosen. Invitations are the first thing that people will see even before the event itself. These usually come in the traditional different fancy designs of rectangular cards blended with laces and flowers. What you need to show them is the beauty of life that you and your partner had united to cherish everlastingly. Hence, it is strongly recommended to come up with a modern designs incorporated with true beauty.

Cheap Wedding Invitations That Look Like A Million Bucks

January 18, 2010

You want a great wedding invitation, but you don’t want to have to sell your belongings on eBay to afford it. Unfortunately, cheap wedding invitations can look like you didn’t spend a dime. This guide will help you learn how you can have cheap invitations that look far more expensive than they were. Here’s how to use printable invites to get an awesome look for little money:

1. Paper – Stationery for cheap wedding invitations is easy to get. Local craft shops offer many different options, usually in the scrapbooking section. If you can’t find what you are after locally, check out craft and scapbooking stores online. Online invitation specialists often offer paper at prices that won’t leave you dizzy. Printable wedding invites can be done on craft paper of any weight, style, or texture to suit your wedding theme.

2. Design – Cheap wedding invitations can be as simple as printing the who, what, when, and where on a piece of cardstock. Another way to create checkbook-friendly printable invitations is to add a photo or image to your invite. Even basic computer software will allow you to easily incorporate a special image. If you’re not sure how to do it, search online for tips and tutorials. Even if you’re not computer-savvy, with a little effort you can easily create invites that look like they were professionally designed.

3. Layer – Another way to create wedding invites that only look expensive is by adding layers to your printable invitations. Start by printing your text on a lightweight paper. Use craft glue to attach the printed paper onto a slightly larger and heavier piece of paper in a coordinating color. The result is a framed and layered look that looks more costly than it is.

4. Embellish – It’s simple to add bling to your printable wedding invitations with gems and charms. Whether it’s a seashell charm for your beach ceremony or red and green holly for your Christmas wedding, it’s easy to find the ideal embellishment. These items are simple to attach with readily available craft glue, meaning even the most craft-phobic bride can create unique printable invites. You could shop at a local or online craft store, but you can also find dizzying selections and great deals using an online invitation specialist.

Are there any disadvantages to creating your own printable wedding invitations? Yes. There’s no question that cheap wedding invitations are easy on your pocketbook. They can be, however, time-consuming–especially if you’re designing a particularly elaborate invite. If possible, enlist family, friends, or even bridesmaids to create an assembly line that’ll seriously cut down on crafting and assembly time.

Remember, too, to set a budget before you start designing and shopping for supplies. It’s easy to get carried away while you’re designing an elaborate homemade invite or while roaming aisles full of adorable charms and gems. Keep your cheap wedding invites cheap by setting–and sticking–to a money plan.

With a little planning, it’s easier than ever to make cheap invitations look like a million bucks.

3 Tips for Planning a Once-In-A Lifetime Wedding Day

January 6, 2010

A wedding day is a sacred day of exchanging vows and committing to a lifetime of devotion to each other. For these reasons it is very special. Because of all of the details involved, it is supposed to be planned at least months ahead with planning and consultations made for each of the important events within the ceremony and reception. The planning is there to ensure that the wedding details are prepared and that everything is perfect for your special day.

Of course there would not be any wedding guests if you did not send out your wedding invitations. In today’s modern times, many couples simply invite prospective guests through e-mail, text, and other electronic gadgets. However, the traditional and much preferred method is to send out elegantly detailed and crafted wedding invitations. An invitation reflects the days’ anticipated events as well as the design, mood, and colors for the wedding reception.

Inviting people through e-mail makes it hard to enjoy the thrill of making the time to design and prepare a beautifully crafted invitation letter. They can show the list of events that will take place and announce the people who will be a part of the ceremony. People who receive such an invitation are glad to commit to your wedding celebration. Your wedding invitations indirectly show your commitment to the marriage and to the joy that you share with your fiancé. It shows that you spared the time and effort to show your prospective guests that you want to make the wedding special so it will stand-out.

Therefore, the first tip in planning and ensuring the success of your wedding day is to send out custom-crafted and preferably personalized copies of your wedding invitations. Firstly, this would leave a good impression on your prospective guests and would be vital for making them want to commit and attend the celebration. Secondly, this would inform them of the nature of the event and to give them an idea of what to expect as far as the overall theme.

The second tip to ensuring total wedding success is to personalize the event. Improve upon the classic version of a wedding to make yours even more special and extravagant. Develop and utilize a theme and a wedding order of service that effectively showcases both of your personalities. Perhaps you could choose to adopt a gingerbread wedding theme if you are to be wed around the holidays and both enjoy candies and sweets. It would certainly be unique and customized to the time of year. It would also leave you guests in awe.

The third tip has much to do with hiring a wedding organizer or a planner. Leaving yourself the burden of planning is too much.  You should leave some space for yourself to enjoy the day and not have to worry about entertainment or other details. You should leave someone reliable in charge of maintaining the flow of the program so that transitioning from one activity to another is seamless. You do not necessarily have to hire a professional, but they would certainly ensure that the wedding order of service would get done the right way.

The Guide To Writing The Perfect Wedding Invitation

January 5, 2010

Writing wedding invitations can be a bit difficult to do if you have no idea where to start. This article brings to light the very basics of how to write the perfect wedding invitation.

Wedding invitations are essential to any weddings. If they weren’t, there may not be anyone showing up at your wedding. The purpose of a wedding invitation is to notify a friend or family member that you are planning on getting married on a specified date and that they are welcome to come and celebrate with you on that special day. So let’s dive right in and see what makes a perfect wedding invitation.

A wedding invitation is the first piece of work that you will be making for your wedding. Because of this, they need to make a lasting first impression. This impression must make them want to attend your wedding. There are many ways to make a lasting impression on your recipients with regards to wedding invitations, but I will only focus on one. The best way to leave a good impression on your guests is to correlate your wedding invitation with your wedding colors. If your wedding colors are pink and brown, the wedding invitations need to be pink and brown. The invitation paper itself can be white, but there needs to be pink in brown somewhere in the invitation, such as the words or designs. Because the wedding invitation will represent your wedding colors, it also sets the tone for your wedding.

The wording on the invitation is critical. It needs to be very fashionable and yet readable at the same time. A traditionally written invitation would look like the one below:

Mr. and Mrs. Kendall Blake Fowler

request the honor of your presence

at the marriage of their son

Kendall Blake Fowler

to

Tabitha Lynn Childers

two thousand and ten

at six o’clock in the evening

Northside Baptist Church

Wilmington, NC

Of course your wedding will be a bit different but you get the overall idea. This type of wording on the invitation assumes that the groom’s parents are married. If they weren’t then you would have to change it up a bit. Whether you include the father or mother is up to you. If you still want to include both parents when they are separated, then they would appear on two separate lines.

Another thing to point out is the line that reads “request the honor of your presence”. The implies that the wedding will be held at a church. If it weren’t held in a church, such as an outside wedding, then these words should be replaced by “request the pleasure of your company.”

If the reception is being held at the same location, then you could also include a line mentioning the reception and letting them know that they are invited. This next point is very important. Make sure you tell them to R.S.V.P so that you can get an idea as of how many people plan on attending the reception.

So I know this article doesn’t hit on any specific points of a wedding invitation, but it does point out the very basics that a wedding invitation should look like and by following these guidelines, you will be well on your way of making the perfect wedding invitation. Good luck!

Save Yourself From Going Over Your Wedding Budget

August 26, 2009

Couples spend an average of almost $25,000 for their once in a lifetime wedding. This is usually over the budget they plan on spending. And by wedding, I consider just the cost of the wedding day itself. The honeymoon and wedding rings are separate expenses altogether. I’m sure you can imagine why most newlywed couples go into debt for the first couple of years after marriage. Debt problems can sure toss out the idea of your honeymoon phase lasting for too long. A wedding planner can keep you on track and find you the affordable rates you need to plan the wedding you always wanted. A wedding planner can be so resourceful, that it’s possible to spend less than you imagined it would cost.

Because of the long standing relations a Wedding Planner has with a variety of contacts, it’s easier for them to get a discount than others. This would be for the flowers, the wedding venue, the catering, the wedding decorations, lighting and sound equipment, etc. So you’ve got that Vera Wang wedding dress you’ve been thinking about since you were a girl? Why not save some cash in other aspects of your wedding. Being on a budget doesn’t always have to mean that you compromise on class. You can still have a classy, beautiful, impressive wedding on a budget.

Don’t feel guilty as the big day gets closer, to include that friend of a friend, or that colleague you kind of talk to. Adding to your guest list will mean rearranging your seating chart, adding another table and which means your catering order also goes up.

Most newly engaged couples are sending their invitations by email these days, which saves a lot of cash. Even if you feel a printed wedding invitation is necessary, you may want to think about printing them only for immediate family and friends and sending the rest by email. Also see if you can hand deliver them to family and friends nearby. If you tell your guests to RSVP by email, it will make it easier to organize which guests are coming for your wedding.

Evenings during the week or Sundays are the most unlikely days for holding a wedding. If you choose one of these days you will get a better rate than others interested in booking that venue. When you talk to your wedding planner see if you can have a per plate entrée sequence for your guests rather than an open buffet. Open buffets are more expensive than a per head catering expense. Check out your options and then consider what easily gels with your budget. Instead of an open bar, arrange with your wedding planner to have wine and beer served to your guests for limited hours during the evening.

Evaluate how many bridesmaids you have and reflect if the number of dresses is tipping your budget overboard. 2 or 3 bridesmaid will look just as nice as 5. After all, it is your big day and you shouldn’t be worrying about the expense of your bridesmaid dresses. Save yourself and your husband from dealing with uncomfortable cutbacks in your daily life for the next couple of years after marriage. Hire a wedding planner in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoy a beautiful wedding at an affordable budget.

Tips for Wording Wedding Invitations Effectively

August 15, 2009

The first thing the guest notices about your wedding is going to be the invitation they have received. It’s necessary therefore to make use of the right words and the acceptable format. This article here is to guide you in making a perfectly worded invitation for a wedding that you are planning.

Firstly, the words used in the invitation need to have a level of formality of the wedding stationery itself, which in turn should again be proportionately formal to the style of the wedding. Let me give you an example. If the wedding was to be a formal black-tie affair with the bridegroom wearing a ball gown, would you send an invite by e-mail? In the same way, if it was a low-key affair, then it wouldn’t warrant to send an engraved notice. What is required here is harmony.  The wording of the invitation will convey as much meaning to the guests as the look of the invitation itself does.

Arguably, the most important thing to know about the wording is that “pleasure of your company” means the ceremony is taking place in a secular place where as “honor of your company” would mean the ceremony is being held in a religious place of worship. The use of the correct phrase will give your guests an idea about what kind of wedding service to expect.

There is a traditional form of wording the wedding invitation where the parents of the bride are showed as the hosts of the wedding. In such cases, the invitation can start with “Mr. & Mrs. Brown / request the pleasure of your company/honor of your company at the marriage of their daughter”. It will then mention who is getting married to who in the fashion “Mary Kate / to Mr. Clive Parsons”. Next would come the date and time followed by the place of the wedding in the following fashion “Tuesday, the third of December at 8 o’clock in the morning, Kensington Square gardens”.

In case the parents of the bride are separated, the names of the mother and father can be printed in two separate lines. New spouses can also be added with the names of the bride’s parent’s names.

It is important to note that, being shown as the host does not necessarily mean the bride’s parents are bearing the costs of the wedding. However, nowadays its commonplace for the couple to be the hosts of their own wedding in which case the following wording could be followed “The honor/pleasure of your presence/company is requested at the marriage of Miss Mary Kate to Mr. Clive Parsons”. This form is most appropriate when the couples have too many parents, step parents and so on between them, which make it hard to fit them all in an invitation. This can also be a great compromise when the wedding bills are being shared by both the families as it can avoid unnecessary squabbling as to who has to get top priority.

Lastly, it is required to add a message at the bottom left hand corner, requesting response.  It could be r.s.v.p  or “Favor of a reply is requested” .  You can then be sure who is turning up at the wedding and who is not which will also help you plan it accordingly.

Tips to Select Your Ideal Wedding Invitations

August 15, 2009

Finding a wedding invitation in your mailbox among the usual daily mails is always a treat to your eyes. Just the touch of the special feeling paper and its ceremonial appearance tends to put a smile on your face and there’s a feeling of excitement.

Since it’s not everyday that you are going to be getting married, a beautiful and elegant invitation that is also formal is what your marriage rightly deserves. Wherever you are marrying, whether in a church or a beachside resort, the occasion always deserves a fitting invitation that compliments the romance that will ensure in your life.

You could easily create the perfect invitation if you go through the guidelines here. There are various paper samples, type styles and different looks that you can give your invitation and you can always choose a combination that suits you best.

THE COLOR OF THE INK AND PAPER

To begin with, you should decide on the color of the ink and paper to be used for the invitation. The shade of the paper has a very important role in deciding what your invitation looks like. The colors for the paper could be bright white, soft white, traditional white or ecru, a grayish-pale yellow. As far as the ink goes, it’s most common to use black but alternatively, if the border of the invitation is metallic, gold and silver ink can be a great compliment to it.

APPEARANCE AND SIZE

You will now want to decide on the style and size of the invitation. The size and style range might differ depending on the color you have chose, so you can always choose your style and size first before choosing the color, if it matters more to you.

The folded style or the letter sheet is the most common format and it measures 5.5 x 7.75 inches when folded. Of course, there are other sizes as well and you can also get neat single cards. These can be designed with a panel or different styles of border designs, but if you use these options you will also have to consider on the wording and whether they will fit comfortably in the available space.

PRINTING

There are broadly two types of printing. ‘Engraving’ and ‘Thermography’ . Engraving provides flawless detail and a regal appearance but is also expensive. With this type of printing, the invitation will have raised print that is done through pressing a plate against the paper and the wordings can be felt at the back of the paper as well. Thermography is an alternative to engraving and is also less expensive. Instead of using plates to achieve the raised print, it uses special inks and powders. The only difference being the words can not be felt on the reverse of the invitation. Another option, which is least expensive, would be printing the invitation at home on your laser printer.

FONT STYLE AND SIZE

Font is the most confusing thing to decide as there are so many different ones to choose from. The ground rule here is to choose the font style according to the formality of the invitation. You can have dual size for the font, where the names of the bride and groom are bigger than the rest of the print. Remember to choose a simple font, so that the guest can read it easily.
