Wedding Favors Decorations
July 31, 2009
When it comes to wedding favors it is often the packaging and decorations that will catch your guests eye, more than the favor itself. The way in which you present your favors shouldn’t be overlooked as it these small details in the colors and embellishments you use that provide that magic finishing touch to your reception tables.
Here is a quick guide to the types of embellishments and decorations you could use on your wedding favors.
- Ribbon is the top of the tree, as it is the easiest and least expensive option. Use it to wrap around packaging, attach tags, make bows or to attach other embellishments such as charms or bells. There is a wide choice when it comes to ribbon including width, color and finish. Choose your ribbon carefully as different finishes can match some styles of wedding better than others.
- Personalized ribbon is a popular choice with couples who want to add a little of themselves to their favors. Usually personalized ribbon is printed with your names and wedding date which is repeated throughout the roll. Colors, finishes and widths can vary and is often more expensive than standard plain ribbon.
- Raffia is a great alternative to ribbon and is a popular choice for those who want something more natural or rustic to decorate their favors. Raffia too is available in a choice of colors although the natural color is the most popular.
- Stickers are a great way to add quick and easy decoration to your favors. You can design them at home on your computer and print them out or have them custom designed and professionally printed through favor stores and stationers. They are a good way of incorporating graphics from your wedding stationery into your favors giving a coordinated feel to all your decorative elements.
- Labels are similar to stickers although this can often refer to non-adhesive printed ‘wraps’ which you simply wrap around your favor and stick at the ends. Like stickers they are a good way of coordinating all your details with graphical elements common to all items.
- Thank you tags are an important detail on your favors even if they are simply printed with ‘thank you’. They also provide a good way to add some personalization to your favors by printing them with your names and wedding date.
- Flowers are a popular choice for favors and include paper, silk, dried and even fresh versions. If you add fresh flowers to your favors do so at the last minute to prevent them wilting and turning brown before your guests have seen them.
- Stick-on-embellishments are available from many craft stores and scrapbooking sites. They include a vast array of different designs from buckles and butterflies to crosses, wedding bells and letters. Your only problem will be in knowing what to choose!
